07.01.2009Phil has been asked to write and produce a whole album of songs inspired by what many feel is one of the most innovative and exciting periods in pop music – the ‘Glamtastic’ 1980’s. Duncan Schwier, MD of Universal Production Music Publishing directly commissioned Phil to team up with many of his cohorts and contacts from that era to create atmospheric & original compositions for use in film, TV and advertising that give an authentic period flavour to a decade of music which is becoming increasingly popular with programme makers as it reflects the public’s growing fascination & nostalgia for that decade.
Phil has co-composed original songs with the likes of 80’s platinum-selling producer/writer Tony Swain (Spandau Ballet, Imagination, Kim Wilde etc), award-winning TV composer David Lowe (BBC News theme, Grand Designs etc) dance producer and all-round 1980’s fanatic, Silvio Gigante, and ELO’s Martin Smith to name but a few. The album is being mixed by hugely successful mixing engineer and long-term Trevor Horn associate, Pete Schwier and the mixes are sounding incredible.
“The more I’ve got into this project the more I began to realise what an incredible era the 80’s was, not just for music, but fashion, flair, ‘go-for-broke’ positivity and innovation” says Phil; “It also coincided with a lot of new technology & ways of making music – and of course, some of the biggest successes of my career so maybe that’s also why I love it!”
Phil & Universal are planning a launch party / 80’s kareoki night somewhere in a trendy London hostelry later in the year to celebrate the CD’s release, strictly shoulder pads, A-Team hair and brick-thick mobile phones only!

The 80s has and always will be the most inspiring era …. not only for the iconic personalities that have been well preserved in the halls of fame ! but for the music!!! Imagine what a great honour it has been to be involved with this project! Not only has it been a retro fest of synths but also an experience I can only say has left me wanting more!
Phil will always be the greatest pop song writer and with a little luck and a sprinkle of neon glitter … together we will bring back an era that should never have gone away! Long live the 80s! minus the hair and shoulder pads!

That’s very nice Silv - many thanks and a huge welcome to my new site - designed and maintained by Jack (hope you like it!)
All I can say is that I am very proud of our association and work together - as I’ve said to you on many occasions, you are incredibly talented and definitely will achieve success as have all the tools at your disposal - as a supremely fantastic vocalist - producer, entertainer and songwriter - pity about the looks though but you can’t have everything! (just kidding, you look fabulous!!) I know you think you should have been born for that time and “made for the 80’s” but believe you can have success in this era too mate! Keep at it and let’s write together soon. All the best, Phil x

Hi Phil
Who better to write an album of Eighties music than the man behind some of the biggest hits of the decade? The ‘Karma Chameleon’ himself!
Hope you had fun Phil and look forward to hearing the fruits of your tremendous efforts.
Btw, lovely website.
